Renowned Trader Nial Fuller Claims $1 Million Top Prize in Prestigious Trading Competition
Nial Fuller, a professional trader and respected trading coach who has trained over 15,000 students, has won the $1 million grand prize in one of the world’s most competitive trading events. Fuller finished the Million Dollar Trader Competition with an outstanding 369% return on investment over the three-month contest, which ran from February to April 2016.
“It was a challenging competition with volatile market conditions throughout the three months. Winning required a careful balance of identifying high-quality trading opportunities, applying disciplined money management, and knowing when to sit out to protect my lead,” Fuller said.
Fuller began teaching himself to trade during his senior high school years, initially exploring the stock market before moving into derivatives, futures, forex, and other leveraged instruments.
He secured the $1 million prize using his proprietary trading strategy, which relies on price action analysis.
“I’m a strong believer in keeping things simple, and that philosophy guides both my trading style and strategy,” Fuller explained. “I’ve relied on price action strategies for most of my career, and these are the same strategies I teach to my students.”
Throughout the competition, Fuller took a selective approach, trading only a handful of times and focusing primarily on major FX pairs, commodities, and indices. He employed pyramiding—adding to winning positions during trending moves—to amplify the risk/reward ratio, a key component of his money management approach.
“I’m not a day trader; I’m primarily a swing trader, so my trades were limited. But knowing it was a competition, I adjusted my money management plan and aggressively pyramided into winning positions whenever the market offered a trending move,” he said.
